My Guiding Principals
As entrepreneurs, we carry the richness of all of our past experiences, both professional and personal, into our role as leaders.
Yet, our culture often champions a 'fake it ‘til you make it' mindset, urging us to suppress our instincts and experiences in pursuit of an idealized vision of leadership.
While this approach may seem valid or even promoted in certain circles, it subtly erodes our sense of alignment with our actions and aspirations. Left unchallenged, this disconnect manifests as a pervasive sense of unease.
We may find ourselves avoiding conflict, tough decisions, or swinging to extremes like workaholism or people-pleasing, resulting in feeling exhausted, disconnected, and burnt out.
The good news is there is an alternative path we can explore.
As a coach following the adult developmental coaching model, I guide you in addressing the complexity of your circumstances and your personal experience of it.
I encourage you to make decisions and explore actions that gently guide you back toward yourself while also expanding what feels possible.
Using this approach allows you to experiment and broaden into a new understanding of who you are and what you are capable of.
This can feel different from conventional coaching.
In conventional coaching, the emphasis is often on linear goal setting, performance, and thought reframing. In my experience, this approach falls short in addressing the underlying and complex motivators at play, resulting in unsatisfactory outcomes where clients may believe there is something wrong with them or that they are "failing coaching" when lifelong behaviors understandably resurface.
Additionally, this can sometimes result in clients performing for the coach (being the "good client") rather than championing themselves and living from an embodied sense of self-trust and inner leadership.
The goal of this approach is to embrace our entire selves, including our past, and potential future experiences in the process of adapting and growing.
By doing so, we can understand our relationship with avoiding certain risks, confront long-standing beliefs, find flexibility, and broaden our capacity to manage those moments that feel inherently uncertain.
